AhlulBayt News Agency: A new report by an advocacy group has exposed escalating violations by Israeli prison authorities against Palestinian women detainees.
The Palestinian Prisoners' Club released the report on Wednesday, detailing severe mistreatment during arrest and detention.
It highlighted ongoing medical neglect and systematic efforts to suppress and humiliate female prisoners.
Testimonies from detainees reveal a sustained policy of abuse that persists despite worsening conditions and growing international concern.
One prisoner, identified as S.W., described her arrest as marked by verbal abuse, threats, denial of basic needs such as bathroom access, and forced feeding while blindfolded.
She recounted being beaten, forced to sleep on metal beds, given inadequate food, and denied clean water.
She was later transferred to Damon Prison, where she and other detainees faced violent suppression.
Prisoners endured collective punishment and dehumanizing treatment for minor or fabricated infractions, including noise disturbances.
The report also documented chronic medical neglect, including the case of Fidaa Assaf, who suffers from leukemia and is being denied proper treatment despite her deteriorating condition.
Similarly, Haneen Jaber, arrested in December 2024, was diagnosed with a breast tumor but remains in detention without receiving necessary medical care.
These cases illustrate how the prison system continues to detain gravely ill women without adequate health services, endangering their lives.
The report further noted the continued use of physical violence and psychological intimidation.
For instance, Karmel al-Khawaja was assaulted during a raid on the women’s section in May and later subjected to isolation and collective punishment.
The advocacy group’s findings reflect a broader strategy of control through fear, degradation, and systematic denial of basic human rights.
The report revealed a sharp increase in the detention of Palestinian women since the start of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza in October 2023.
Women targeted come from diverse backgrounds, including professionals, students, and relatives of martyrs and prisoners.
Elsewhere in the report, the group stated that at least 545 women had been abducted since October 7, 2023.
These figures exclude those kidnapped in the besieged Gaza Strip during the same period.
At least 47 female prisoners remain in Israeli prisons, including a child and two pregnant women.
In March, the Palestine Prisoners Studies Center reported that Israel had intensified its aggressive policies against female Palestinian detainees, urging the international community to break its silence and take action.
The Israeli rights group B’Tselem previously stated that Israeli authorities were systematically abusing Palestinian detainees in prison camps established after the October 7 Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
